But do you actually know why they’re so good for you… Why everyone’s going CRAZY for them…

1. They help promote healthy weight loss
It probably won’t come as a surprise to you that weight for weight (or portion to portion), vegetable noodles – yes, even sweet potato noodles – are less calorific than their gluten-laden wheat counterparts.
To give you an example, a single serving of zoodles (zucchini noodles) contains around 17 calories, while a serving of wheat pasta contains over 130 calories. That’s a pretty hefty difference!
This means that if you’re trying to lose weight, swapping out wheat noodles for veggie noodles is a pretty great place to start.
2. It’s an easy way to add more veggies to your diet
It may seem pretty obvious, but using veggie noodles instead of regular noodles is a super easy way to add more vegetables to your diet!
Simply adding a portion of zucchini noodles to a dish bumps up its nutrient-profile, giving you plenty of vitamins, minerals and fibre that wheat-based noodles don’t.
The best thing is, you won’t even notice the difference as vegetable noodles have a very similar consistency to regular noodles… Especially in a delicious Paleo sauce!
3. They are naturally gluten-free and Paleo-friendly
Since they are made from vegetables, veggie noodles are naturally devoid of energy-sapping gluten.
Gluten often has an inflammatory effect, causing uncomfortable bloating, gassiness, sluggishness… The list goes on!
Cutting it out completely can often lead to very quick reductions in so called “wheat belly” and general inflammation of the body. You’ll feel better in no time!
4. They help stabilise blood sugar levels
Because wheat noodles are heavy in gluten, they cause insulin spikes when you eat them. Higher levels of insulin can actually BLOCK fat cells and make it difficult to lose excess weight!
High insulin levels can also increase risk of Type 2 Diabetes – the ultimate “lifestyle” disease.
Swapping gluten-based carbs such as pasta or wheat noodles for alternatives such as zucchini noodles will be a huge help in avoiding blood sugar and insulin spikes.
5. They make you feel more energized
Because it can be hard to digest – especially if you have even the mildest intolerance to it – carb- and gluten-heavy pasta can induce lethargy and sluggishness that can go on for hours after you’ve eaten it.
By replacing regular pasta with vegetable noodles, you’ll avoid that tired feeling and feel energized instead!
6. They are super delicious!
Because they have a very similar consistency to regular noodles, veggie noodles can be used in exactly the same way, in exactly the same dishes.
This means that all those pasta dishes you thought you’d never be able to eat again after switching to Paleo are back on the menu!
